Barcelona were made to work hard for their 3-1 win over Athletic Bilbao last week at San Mames. The Catalan giants broke the deadlock ten minutes after the interval through Seydou Keita and went 2-0 up when midfield maestro Xavi lashed home from outside the area in the 74th minute.
Igor Gabilondo raised Bilbao’s hopes of a comeback by scoring at the death, but Sergio Busquets netted another goal for Barcelona to complete a 3-1 win for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Mallorca have been impressive at home but their form on the road has been a real cause for concern. Their two away games in the league have both ended in defeats- a 2-0 loss at Sporting Gijon and a 3-0 defeat at Athletic Bilbao. Barca have also won the last three games between the two sides at the Nou Camp.
